Overview

Il sogno della farfalla is a psychiatry and psychotherapy quarterly journal founded by a group of psychiatrists and based on the theory and practice of Massimo Fagioli. The former, known as The Human Birth Theory was first presented in the volume Death Instinct and knowledge in 1972; while the latter consists of a group of psychotherapy called “Analisi Collettiva”(Collective Analysis) which has been taking  place four times a week since 1975.The Collective Analysis aims at curing, training and conducting research. The journal started its publication in the 1992 issue by publishing the screenplay by Massimo Fagioli with the homonymous title “Il sogno della farfalla” and from which the journal takes its name. With this title he proposed to overcome what has always been in conflict in the history of psychiatry and human thought: on one hand the research on non-conscious thought and dream images; on the other the reality of psychiatry, a science dealing with the hard task of understanding and curing mental illness. From the earliest issues, the journal has been characterized by the integration of purely psychiatric and psychotherapeutic papers with humanistic essays in particular historical, literary and philosophical. Over the years several Italian and international authors have been involved with the aim of creating a dialogue on different ideas, discoveries, theories and psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practices. The main focus has always been on  the study of psychopathology and the practice of a psychotherapy aimed at the cure of mental illness. For these reasons “Il sogno della farfalla”, in its twenty-five years history, has become a flagship in the Italian psychiatric culture.

Scopi

The journal aims to create a platform to share and discuss highly scientific topics. These must be treated not only with absolute rigor both in terms of content and epistemological accuracy but also with an absolute freedom of research. In fact, this can represent, when required by the nature of the work a point of departure from biological reductionism. For this purpose articles considered for publication are: original research, descriptive and experimental papers regarding psychiatric and psychotherapeutic, medical sciences and humanity issues; new editions and translations of classical psychopathology manuscripts; review of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic topics; critique and comments of books and other publications; conferences and seminars communications on psychiatry, psychotherapy, social sciences, art and literature.
