Tamaki Saitō is among the world’s leading experts in the study of the hikikomori phenomenon. In this interview, the author investigates some crucial issues in the identification and treatment of the disorder. Especially in relation to its epidemiology, appropriate public and scientific information, clinical diagnosis, and in particular its differential diagnosis with schizophrenia simplex.
