Mental Health and Migrants. Interviews to a few psychiatrists
Abstract
In the last few years, the number of migrants in Western countries has increased dramatically. Migration represents a very stressful phenomenon in itself and, whenever it combines with post-migration stressors, it exposes migrants to severe psychological distress. This increases the risk of developing mental disorders. In order to investigate how psychiatrists from all around the world are exploring migrants’ conditions of fragility, we have interviewed some of the most outstanding ethnopsychiatrists.
