Per una nuova identità dell’insegnante

Abstract

Although education represents one of the main resources human beings have to achieve their own full potential, it is one of the areas where governments invest increasingly less. From this attack to education, there emerges an image of teachers that is more and more devalued. In fact, the relationship with students falls behind hundreds of duties teachers must fulfil. On the contrary, the author assigns a fundamental role to teachers’ formation?, not only when it comes to intellectual aspects or their degree of expertise, but also human aspects. For instance, teachers have the role to raise interest and curiosity, transmit human knowledge through education. Also, they are often the first to notice early signs of psychic distress, which they should be able to identify so as to promptly refer the students to a qualified professional.
